Many people know about the Wright Brothers' first powered flights at Kitty Hawk. Not many people know that the development and invention of practical aviation, following the experiments at Kitty Hawk, was conducted here in Dayton, Ohio, and on the former cow pasture known as Huffman Prairie in Greene County. On October 5th, 1905, the Wright brothers flew their Flyer III for 39 minutes and proved that practical aviation was possible.
